Awards

Platinum, Gold, and Silver discs are awarded for a major contribution to the volume of sales of a particular single or album. In the UK, single awards start at 200,000 sales, a Silver record, 400,000 sales, a Gold record and 600,000 sales, a Platinum record, very few achieve double Platinum status 1,200,0000. I’ve been lucky enough to have two records that have achieved that status in thirty three years, showing how rare the achievement is. Albums are awarded in the same way but at different sales levels, 60,000 albums sales is recognized as a Silver record, 100,000 sales a Gold record and 300,000 sales a Platinum record. Some albums achieve multi-Platinum status, I’ve been fortunate to be involved in many of these, the best selling album of my career, Justified by Justin Timberlake which achieved sales of 1,800,000, a six time Platinum award.
