Billy Ocean
Billy Ocean has been a close friend of mine since 1982, we first met at the Jive Records offices when the company was a small independent label with one or two hits under it’s belt. Billy had just signed to the label and was writing the songs that would go on to be the best selling album, Suddenly, featuring the hits Caribbean Queen, Loverboy and the title track, Suddenly. We have worked together ever since, a further five albums, three world tours, four U.S.A Number Ones and Billy is still the most successful British Black Artist of all time.
The 7th December 2006 will be a date that I will remember for a long time, to have a World Star come to Walsall and visit my exhibition was an honor and a pleasure. It was good to see the media embrace that, Billy had taken the time to visit, it meant a lot to the people that were there and returning to London with Billy, he said how much he had enjoyed the day.
One of the most asked questions is ‘Who is, from the people you have worked with, your favorite artist?.’ many people think I will say Kylie or Britney or Justin Timberlake or R.Kelly but for me it will always be Billy Ocean. He is a unique talent, a voice that I would put in the all time World Top Ten, a perfect gentleman and most of all, a great friend.
