MUSIC mogul, Steve Jenkins, was joined by two Saddlers’ legends to promote his latest book at our home game with Bradford City last weekend.

Chris Marsh and Mark Rees were on hand to celebrate the launch of ‘Walking Down The Wednesbury Road’, a book which tells the story Jenkins’ lifelong passion for The Saddlers.

Packed with fascinating stories and behind-the-scenes tales, the book is a must-read for any Walsall fan. Copies are on sale now from the Banks’s Stadium Club Shop at the very special Saddlers’ price of £10.

“Writing the book was a real labour of love,” said Jenkins, who has never forgotten his roots despite a highly successful career in the music industry that has taken him all over the World and seen him rub shoulders with some household names. “I celebrated my 50th Anniversary of supporting the club last year, so I have a wealth of stories and memories from throughout that time.

“I’ve been fortunate too that some of the players from over the years have become close personal friends and I was honoured that both Chris Marsh and Mark Rees rearranged prior engagements to come along to the last home game and be part of the book launch.

“It was great to catch up with them and also meet and chat to so many fans on the day in and around the stadium.

“The initial feedback that I’ve received on the book has been good and I’d like to think that it will be an enjoyable read for anyone with an interest in the club.

“I feel that I have definitely captured what I set out to with the book; it’s not a stats book nor a club history, it’s the memories of someone who has remained passionate about his hometown club over the years despite being fortunate in that his work has taken him to some fantastic places all over the World and allowed him to rub shoulders and work with some great people.

“There is a mixture of funny, behind-the-scenes and personal stories that will really appeal to Walsall supporters. The two lads that were with me on Saturday certainly feature prominently in some of the stories!”

Copies of ‘Walking Down The Wednesbury Road’ are now on sale from the Banks’s Stadium Club Shop for the special Saddlers’ price of £10.
