My infancy was filled with what was known as the ‘Tupelo Mississippi Flash’ commonly known as Elvis Presley, everyone knew his name and his records were all over the radio. This is Elvis’s first Number One single Heartbreak Hotel, released on January 27th 1956, it became a million seller and the best selling single of 1956. The song was based on a newspaper article about the suicide of a lonely man who jumped from a hotel window, written by Tommy Durden and Mae Boren Axton.
