Meeting the real Girl From Ipanema

The Girl From Ipanema won a Grammy for Record of the Year in 1965, although written in 1962 by Antonio Carlos Jobin and Vinicius de Moraes. A fifteen year old Heloisa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto would stroll past the cafe’ bar Veloso everyday on her way to the beach. The Veloso was the meeting place for Jobim and de Moraes who watched her go by most days and wrote the song.

Heloisa inspired a song that caused a worldwide bossa nova appreciation, put Brazil on the international map and became the mythical object of many a man’s desire.

You should meet her!
