When Will I See You Again. The Three Degrees.

When The Three Degrees were recording their first album for Philadelphia International Records in 1973, Kenny Gamble sat at the piano and played Sheila Ferguson, lead singer of The Degrees a new song ‘When Will I See You Again.’ Sheila threw a tantrum, screaming and yelling, claiming the song was too simple, it took no talent to sing it and it was insulting to be asked to do so, finally ending the tirade with ‘I will never sing it.’ The Three Degrees eventually did record the song and it went to Number 2 in the U.S.A. and Number 1 in the U.K. on August 17th 1974. Years later Ferguson said, ‘After several million sales of the record, I realised that Kenny Gamble knew more than me.’
